A large corrosion scab across the bend and straight section of the line.
The Problem
Due to severe CUI, external corrosion has resulted in a large corrosion scab across the bend and straight section of this line between the 3 and 6 o clock position leaving only 2mm of wall thickness remaining. The site couldn’t afford to have a through wall defect with hot oil leaking out.
The Solution
With a design temperature of 110°C, Metalyte Pipeworks used their High Temperature Dragon composite. The repair will allow the system to run at full operation without any concerns of further corrosion or wall loss.
