Conductor Caissons (Subsea Repair)

Several different size conductors had suffered from external corrosion between (+10m) above sea level and (-5m) below sea level

NATURE OF DEFECT

Several different size conductors had suffered from external corrosion between (+10m) above sea level and (-5m) below sea level. This had resulted in local wall thinning and some through wall defects.

SOLUTION

Metalyte Pipeworks produced a repair method using specialized epoxy resins together with a hydrophobic bonding primer and a water activated composite system, reinforcing strength while returning the line back to its full design specification.

REPAIR METHOD

Following specific surface preparation on the above-sea line and subsea line, a specialised bonding primer was used before 16 layers of our engineered hydrophilic Cayman composite system was applied. Correct curing cycles were completed along with thorough QA/QC documentation.

CONCLUSION

Metalyte Pipeworks delivered a bespoke engineered solution, restoring asset integrity while providing a life extending repair for the client’s critical infrastructure.
