NATURE OF DEFECT
The 3” line had suffered from internal corrosion. This thinned the metal and cracked at the point of the elbow and resulted in a large through wall defect. The client required a composite repair to sealthe leak location.
SOLUTION
Metalyte Pipeworks produced a repair method using a bespoke injectable composite system to seal the leak location.
REPAIR METHOD
A bespoke injectable composite collar was utilised to seal the leak location and the surface was prepared (excluding the identified defect area) using hand tools. Once the leak was fully arrested and cured, the repair area was painted in HTRP.
