NATURE OF DEFECT
A 1 1⁄2-inch 1500# orifice flange required an engineered mechanical solution. The line operated under high pressure and temperature conditions, and a standard welded repair was not suitable. A leak sealing enclosure was then chosen to provide a safe and verifiable pressure boundary.
SOLUTION
Metalyte Pipeworks designed and validated an enclosure which utilised a Vulcan sealant injection. The design was supported with full ASME VIII Div.1 calculations.
REPAIR METHOD
The clamp enclosure was installed safely and on time in line with engineering guidance, ensuring integrity of the pressurised system.
