The Problem
The line had suffered severe internal corrosion. The platform had applied a stopper clamp over the leak area that needed building up and tying in to the line.
The Solution
Metalyte Pipeworks have developed a system that uses a combination of high strength epoxies and resins to build up clamps.
The epoxies add strength to the clamp and are a load transfer material underneath the composite. Once all the building up is complete and the resins are fully cured, Metalyte Pipeworks technicians then applied the composite wrap over the full length of the repair, fully encapsulating the clamp.
Due to the corrosion mechanism and the required design life of the repair, Metalyte Pipeworks extended the length of the wrap. This is to ensure that if there was to be another through wall defect within the area of the clamp, then the composite will hold it back as designed.
