Mud Drains

Mud drainage lines & drain gullies located underneath the lower deck of the storage, pump, & electrical packages were inspected after signs of leaking was evident.

Nature of Defect

Mud drainage lines & drain gullies located underneath the lower deck of the storage, pump, & electrical packages were inspected after signs of leaking was evident. These were discovered to be in various states of corrosion, perforations and poor condition. A repair method was requested which would seal any leaks and re-line the drains. The system had to be strong but also flexible.

Solution

Metalyte Pipeworks solution was to use their bespoke field applied, fibre reinforced, seamless, Steel Clad 390 system, with a chemical resistant top coat. This would halt any further corrosion issues, re line the gulley’s and seal any through wall defects.

Repair Method

The Gulley lids were lifted and cleaned out of any loose material and oily residue. Any through wall defects were plugged with a chemical resistant putty and allowed to cure.
The substrate was prepped in preparation of the Steel Clad 390 system being applied. Any corrosion pits were filled with a two part resin to ensure a smooth transition for the Steel Clad system to adhere to. A primer coat was applied to the steel with a fibre matting pressed into the primer ensuring full saturation of the matting.
