Nature of Defect
The roof/deck plate had suffered from heavy corrosion over a 15 metre squared section. This has resulted in thinning of the plate and perforation in several locations
Solution
Metalyte Pipeworks solution was to prepare the deck plating to remove all loose scale and corrosion. Apply steel plates to the existing deck then completely seal the deck with an elastomeric membrane system.
Repair method
The full repair area was prepared by removing all loose material and cleaning any surface corrosion. Several steel plates were then bonded in sections to the existing deck using a high compression, high bond two part epoxy. Once all the steel plates were installed, the water proof membrane was applied. This system has a fibre glass matting between resin layers to increase the strength and flexibility of the system.
