The 6″ flange was leaking on the joint due to a breakdown of the joint seal. The client required an engineered composite system which would seal the leak in a live status and add strength to prevent any further failures.
The Problem
The 6″ flange on the cooling water line was leaking. After further investigation it was noted that the joint ring of the flange had failed. The platform were unable to shut the line down and required Metalyte Pipeworks to repair it live, to stop any leaks and add strength back in to the flange.
The Solution
Metalyte Pipeworks first applied their bespoke composite leak sealing system. Once the leak was sealed, the technicians then prepped the full repair area and then applied the engineered composite system which will hold back any further failures of the joint ring.
